Sculpture Auctions

From marble busts of the 18th and 19th centuries through to Art Nouveau and Art Deco figures and statues, to modern sculpture, Golding Young & Mawer see a great deal of the very best works and produce stunning results time and again.

A collector from South Africa secured a sculpture of a lady by Demetre H Chiparus on the telephone for £15,000. It was by no means perfect, but thorough work from the team ensured that a bidding war brought in an excellent result.

On a lower level the Josef Lorenzl Deco bronze of a lady at £1,200 was similarly impressive and we continually see high prices paid for big names such as £1,100 for a small Ferdinand Preiss statue and £170 for some Bergman type bronze cat figures from the early 20th century.

We also excel with more classical groups and the Battigila alabaster and marble bust at £1,800 is testament to that. A huge consignment of marble and other statues came from an important private collection with a number of pieces of metalware, basalt and other sculptures, that were catalogued and sold across all of our salerooms.

Our Art Sale catalogue often showcases more modern works and supports living artists.

Through the  knowledge and experience of our Resident Valuers at Golding Young & Mawer means we are the place to visit whether you are buying or selling one sculpture or many.

Unlike Rodin, you do not have to be a 'Thinker' in making your decision of where to sell.
