Paul Johnson was invited along to the Armed Forces & Veterans breakfast club on Saturday 6th April to conduct a charity auction to help raise funds for local causes.
Approximately 50 people attended the Breakfast Club and enjoyed a delicious full English Breakfast including coffee and toast at the Grainstore Brewery, Oakham.
The charity auction consisted of just one lot, but a rather special one, tickets for 2 for a Guided Tour of the Royal Chelsea Hospital in London by a Chelsea Pensioner and a 3 course meal in the Great Hall. Bidding was competitive in the packed room and included a telephone bidder, the lot eventually realising an astonishing £450, the buyer was a local man from Oakham.
All money raised will be split between Cottesmore Academy School and the Rutland Community Ventures Dementia Initiative.
