The Asian Art Sale in Grantham on July 27th was its usual successful affair, with choice pieces making choice money in a range of areas.
Highlights included an Imperial bowl in yellow colours at £6,000.
A green glazed Chinese porcelain vase at £1,400, a cloisonné vase at £3,200 and several moon flasks making good mid hundred prices. Basically if the item is right it will be found and porcelain in particular is flavour of the month.
It is not only porcelain making top dollar. An amber necklace did rather well and a pair of Chinese chairs sailed past expectation at £2,000.
A good turn out in the room long into the Grantham night proves the appeal of Asian art. Whether it be porcelain, ivory, bronze, furniture, Chinese or Japanese, even tribal and South Sea items, we can appraise anything and sell whatever you wish.
If you are considering selling, we urge you to use a company like ours, with our Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) pedigree, a specialist Asian Art sale, both excellent cataloguing and photography and our ability to heavily promote items in the local area and worldwide.
The key these days is to make sure you know what you are selling and make sure it is promoted correctly; these are all things Golding Young & Mawer prides itself on. We are only too happy to help in anyway we can.
We are open for valuations at Bourne, Grantham and Lincoln Monday to Friday 9am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm or by appointment.
