Some may have enjoyed a dry January on the wagon, but there are many lots in the saleroom to help you fall off again.....
A bottle of Macallan Single Malt Scotch Whisky Ten Years recently sold for £220; if you wanted the Twelve Years, the bid to secure it went up to £360.
Age may not be everything, but a 1957 bottle of Whitehorse Cellars Original Old Scotch Whisky, sold on the hammer at £280. Should that be too strong for you, then how about a group of miniature liqueurs and spirits, offering a bottle for everyone with a modest bill of £20. If you’re still out of spirits, you can brighten up the drinks cabinet with a pair of George III silver decanter labels, which sold for a final bid of £120.
When you’re ready to open a bottle of wine, how about a late 19thC novelty corkscrew, which popped the cork at auction when it sold for £280.
Finally, if you wanted to keep everything under lock and key and out of temptations way, a late 19thC oak and plate mounted Tantalus sold for a modest £55. The key is available on request!
