The next Collective offering at the Grantham Saleroom on the 14th October includes a fabulous mix of objects and effects from several major estates and private consignments throughout the county.
Proceedings kick off nicely with a Honda Jazz car and seamlessly enter a high end collection of pottery from a Minton jardinière infusing the best Louis Solon style with majolica hearts and flowers in their typical turquoise colours which will alert both private buyers and collectors far and wide.
Of similar quality and with the name of Wedgwood and John Skeaping comes a doe figure in its typical plain glaze which will also tempt purchasers worldwide.
There is a marching band of high end names in this sale from Howard chairs to early Doulton, good 19th century paintings and an array of mixed lots of bygones and collectables which incorporate some very interesting items, with good selections of advertising, some postcards, stamps and books involved, with affine private collection of 19th century bindings and local items including early Kelly’s Directories..
The Howard chairs are typical of the style of the great London firm, up there with Gillows and producing a typical low but deep chairs, which these pair here perfectly illustrate. They are in the utmost of Victorian comfort, are stamped with numbers which Howard used and will set pulses racing when offered on the 14th.
A private consignment of guitars helps things along and a fine supply of antique to modern furniture including the above named Holy Grail of chairs and a mixture of Georgian, Victorian and later offerings which will tick boxes for private buyers, interior decorators and dealers alike.
The jewellery is in small number but of good quality, with a few lots of gold and a good micro mosaic floral brooch alerting attention, couple with this a good range of ephemera, other collectables, tea services and famous names, there is plenty to go at.
With over 900 lots on offer, interest will be high with a great deal of items from the usable to the collectable, from cars to high end pots, and as we continue to say, keep an eye on those Howard chairs!
