The last sale this year for Golding Young and Mawer in Lincoln has a vast array of items to satisfy not only Christmas shoppers, but house furnishers and collectors alike.
One of the highlights is a collection of forty seven gold sovereigns consigned by a Lincolnshire collector, expected to make in excess of three hundred pounds each. Amongst the extensive furniture section included in this months sale, ranging from seventeenth century pieces through to the twenty first century, includes a collection of furniture entered from a South Lincolnshire property, which includes a Victorian walnut writing table, an exhibition quality Victorian walnut card table, an Anglo Indian work table, a Regency small window or alcove sofa and a figured mahogany Victorian cheval mirror.
Also part of the very eclectic furniture section are a number of dining tables, chairs, and sideboards, perfect for the festive season. Elsewhere in the sale there is a collection of eighteenth century Derby consigned from a local deceased estate, a number of bronzes to include a continental group of two with unusual verdis gris green finish, around ten air rifles by various different manufactures, swords, daggers, etc.
A typically healthy silver and jewellery section has a number of small pieces of silver perfect for last minute presents, as well as diamond and other gem stone rings, brooches and necklaces. Finally, for ‘grown up’ children there is a vast collection of vintage Meccano to keep you occupied after Christmas lunch.
