The 18th century seat of the Littles has been in the family’s ownership since it was built around 1790 by William Little who inherited the site and an earlier house from his aunt Jane Cheveley.
There are over a thousand lots encompassing an important library of antiquarian books, paintings, antique furniture, clocks, glass, ceramics, silver and other Grand Tour collectables.
In addition to the main items, family related artefacts include a Georgian artist’s box, a monogrammed scroll paper workbox, a funeral permit to attend the funeral of Nelson and family portraits. Many other artefacts embellish the original collection from the Regency period to the present day.
Our thanks go to the executors for inviting us to into the family home to advise on the chattels in the estate and their instructions to prepare the sale. Please enjoy the diversity of the catalogue and we look forward to receiving your bids before and during the auction.
